Description
This traditional mestana was woven in the classic style with distinctive Inti symbols of sacred light and sun in split diamond shapes. The woven patterns of sunrise, sunset, and the sun at midday — as well as the bordering bands of growing fields — reflect Q’ero life as strongly connected to the sacred earth of Pachamama, the Apus, and all beings. Elder Ricardina Apaza Gerillo knelt on the ground outside her home in Yanruma, leaning over her loom for many days to produce this finely balanced classic textile. 25 x 25.5 inches. 60 x 60.5 cm. Your purchase helps Ricardina, her family, and her community build schools and food security.
